mySQL and MS Sql linked server

Postby Bobking » Wed Jul 04, 2012 8:28 pm

Hi All

I'm experimenting with mySQL and wanting to update some data through ms sql as a linked server, has anyone had any experience with this. I seem to be getting errors that indicate the user doesn't have permission yet I'm using the osdial user with osdial1234.

Can anyone shed any light as to what could be going wrong or point me to a site that shows how to do this.

Thank you all in advance.

Bob.

You are not giving much of a description what you are observing. Generic statements such as "getting errors" is not useful to anyone as we can't read your mind nor have access to you computers. You see that?

Always include specifics that someone else who don't know squat about what you have, can look at and see what is going on.

Also, NEVER EVER put login information online. Let's say you use the same username somewhere else and that other place opens the door to see what your IP is... It would be a cinch for someone to gain remote access to your system.

You should also know that if the dialer is running and you do anything with MySQL which puts any kind of load on it, it may crash the dialer as everything is VERY time sensitive.

Thanks for the reply.

Where can I find information on the default usernames and passwords for the various elements of osdial please e.g. the mysql database, the web server etc etc.

Many thanks.

See /etc/osdial.conf

The web GUI login is not used by SQL, which is why it fails.

This one is vital:
DO NOT PUT LOGIN INFORMATION ON ANY FORUM UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE HACKED.

Also, ALWAYS change the default login when you have installed a program. ALWAYS!!!

@Bobking Did you enable Mysql to be accessible from external hosts?
